We are having 5 DMA pairs geographically redundant. We are gonna restore the 1 location pair DMAs and then work on it. So the backups which i wanna restore is to be taken from respective DMA ? or The backup from 1 DMA would help me to restore all the DMAs in one location.

Hi Ashwini,

My advice for this case would be to follow the following steps:

  • Install DM and DB software if applicable with the same versions as you had when the backups were made for one site. If your DB was hosted on different machines and needs to be restored as well, first restore your DB.
  • Restore the backups on the machines. You need to use the backup of the same machines as the config files of DataMiner are specific to the machine (e.g. contains IP addresses).
  • Remove the failover configuration of all DMAs in the cluster.
  • Install DM and DB software if applicable for the other site with the same versions.
  • Configure the failover again. This way all the syncing should be done by DM.
