Reinstalling DataMiner services after Windows reset

Hi Dojo,

I've recently had to reset my Windows 11 installation. I've chosen the option to keep personal files and as result I now have Skyline DataMiner folder with all the configurations for my DataMiner, but I don't have any SL services installed and therefore I can't start the agent. I don't have the Skyline Taskbar Utility either.

When I run DM installation I only have the option to uninstall it, which I would prefer not to do.

Is there a way to reinstall the services using the current installation or do I have to do clean install of the DMA?

Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Hi Edib,

You can start an instance of the TaskBarUtiliy from  "C:\Skyline DataMiner\Tools\SLTaskbarUtility" and launch the exe. This can then be used to re-apply the upgradepackage which should do the registration for you.

Alternatively to register things manually,

From an elevated command line run

-"C:\Skyline DataMiner\Tools\Register dll's of DataMiner (silent).bat"

-"C:\Skyline DataMiner\Tools\Register DataMiner as Service.bat"

-"C:\Skyline DataMiner\Files\SLEndpointTool_Console.exe" (follow the instructions to install NATS)

- Install each MSI found in C:\Skyline DataMiner\Tools\ModuleInstallers.
Once this is done you should be able to start dataminer. I would still recommend re-applying the same upgrade package afterwards to make sure all components are properly installed.

Hi Brent,
thank you for the suggestion. I have already reinstalled the agent as it seemed like easiest solution.
I'm now wondering if I can connect the new agent with existing system on dataminer.services, do you have experience with that?

Brent [SLC] commented 6 days ago

Unforutunately I have no experience with this. I believe it has something to do with the cloud tokens which are generated when you connect the system to the cloud.

The best course here would be to get in touch with the cloud team at support.cloud.ecosystem@skyline.be

Hi Edib,

Unfortunately, if you no longer have the previous cloud tokens which are stored in the CcaGatewayPersisted Data folder. You are unable to keep the same identity yourself. If you really would like to keep the same identity it is indeed recommended to mail us support.cloud.ecosystem@skyline.be
