registering api v1 applications

As far as I can recall it was necessary to register an api v1 application to maintain the connection with the DataMiner server.
One of the steps in this process was to do a connection attempt and to look in the slnet logging for the line ConnectionInfo.InitFromAuthenticationMessage.  This line contained 2 hex strings separated by an underscore.
When registering we then needed to register the application and that hex string.

I repeated this process for a new application that should be registered, but the slnet logging no longer contains the hex string.  Has the app registration procedure changed?
What is the current process for registering api v1 applications?

Hi Jeroen,

Client application licensing has been removed starting from 9.6 CU19, 10.0 CU7, 10.0.12 (release notes)

There's no more need to register these applications.
