Monitoring some element parameters for view only, but not be included in General Alarm

Hi All,

We have an Imagine Video Router, with fully SNMP parameters control Skyline official connector (Imagine Platinum IP3).

Now we're monitoring a lot of parameters on this element.
Some of them (SDI input signal presence) are needed for some Visio view only. They must turn red when video is missing.

BUT, we don't want these parameters affect the main element master alarm (router).

I mean: if ad SDI input is missing, i want to see it RED on relative view, but i want to keep Element general alarm state GREEN for this element because router is working fine.

We already tired with alarming group but without success.

Do you have some suggestion about this?

Many thanks

Hi Miguel,
Thank you so much.

That was the first try, but we don't have any Service Protocol, so Element and Services share the same Alarm Template.

When the parameter alarm triggers ON, i have both service and element red error status rised.

Hi Gabel,
I believe for your use case you don't need the service protocol. You could use a standard service. Following the example that I provided you initially, you can map the alarm related to the SDI input to the service. Whenever there is an alarm on the SDI input, the service will reflect that alarm. It is true that the alarm template is assigned to the element, but I don't think that will have an impact on your use case.

Hi Gabel,

For this type of use cases, I believe the best approach will be to use services. For example in a service you could map a specific SDI input of an element. When there is an alarm on this parameter, the service will impacted.

There is also a nice Kata video related to this topic: Enhance your service monitoring.

Hope it helps.
