Hi Dojo,
I need to upgrade a small cluster of DataMiner agents in failover from version 9.6-CU23 to the latest version in the 10.1-Main branch and also migrate databases from MySQL to Cassandra. During the upgrade process I'll have options to migrate to Cassandra in DataMiner 9.6, 10.0 and 10.1. Which version would be optimal for migration? Are there any special considerations for migration in the failover setup?
Thanks.
Great question, Alexander
Basing on the release notes of 9.6 CU 23 and 10.1, the MySQL-->Cassandra process in a failover set-up looks the same (cfr. 2.3 in both RN docs).
I guess that the choice would depend mainly on other factors that are specific for that cluster (are users already familiar 10? Any features removed ore made different in release 10 that you would still need as in 9.6?) - but I'm still new to 10, so curious to hear more from the community here.
PS: Some of the GUI features that I understand to be no longer present in 10.1
(this might be of help if the cluster has 4 or 5 pairs and you want to quickly launch the failover GUI from the top corner)
Hi Alberto, thank you for sharing your ideas.
I did some more research on the topic and came to a conclusion that any current DataMiner version (i.e. a latest build of 9.6, 10.0 and 10.1) is equally good for Cassandra migration. In my case, we chose to migrate to Cassandra in DataMiner 9.6, just because it fit the timeline of the project better.
