Visio 2013 and higher should be good. Visio 2010 does not yet support VSDX files out-of-the-box and therefore not the best option anymore.

The newest versions of Visio include mainly smaller UI changes, so this doesn't make that much of a difference (for DataMiner at least). Although, I believe opening a group of shapes for further editing was only added in 2016, and I really like that feature. Otherwise, you had to ungroup and group shapes very often, which is not that efficient.
