Messages for shapes that cannot be displayed

Hi Dojo

For example, suppose there are VLAN010 interfaces.
If the shape is displaying the bit rates VLAN010, then if I do command ‘no vlan 10’ in device, the shape itself will not be able to be displayed.

I know this behavior is natural, but is it possible to indicate a message to the user who is viewing the View, such as “This parameter does not exist”?

In other words, we want to display an alternate message when a shape becomes unavailable for some reason.
In HTML, it is the ALT attribute for IMG tag.

Hi, the given parameter is probably a cell in a table, where your interface name is (part of) the display key?

Yuki Arakawa(3496) 荒川 祐貴 [DevOps Advocate] commented 9th June 2023

Yes, indeed.
If it is a VLAN, for example, it will be part of the table.
But that is just an example.
It is the same for general parameters.

Hi Yuki,

A possible solution could be to add a shape with the desired message, e.g. “This parameter does not exist”, and then add the shape that is actually linked to the element or parameter on top. This way, when the parameter shape is not available, the message will become visible to the user.

That method was the one I am currently taking as an alternative.
I knew I had to do it that way.
Thank you very much.
