Hi Bina,
Are you using the connector 'Generic Ping' or the Ping Monitoring tool: https://docs.dataminer.services/solutions/learning_samples/Ping_Monitoring/PingMonitoring.html

Hi Bina,

There is no hardcoded maximum number of endpoints in the Generic Ping protocol - the ping table does not enforce a row limit.

That said, the practical limit depends on a few factors:

  • Thread pool capacity: The multi-threaded timer is configured with a pool of 300 threads and a queue of 800. All endpoints need to be polled within the configured cycle time.
  • Ping timeout and cycle settings: Higher timeouts or shorter cycles reduce the number of endpoints that can be polled in time.
  • Server resources: Large tables increase the load on SLElement and SLProtocol, so available CPU and memory matter.

In practice, a few thousand endpoints per element is generally achievable. The element itself exposes Thread Pool Usage and Thread Pool Waiting parameters that you can monitor to check whether all endpoints are being polled within the cycle. If you see the thread pool backing up, you can split endpoints across multiple Generic Ping elements.

Hope this helps!
