Keep DM from starting up after an upgrade?

Is it possible to keep DM from automatically starting back up after an upgrade? We will soon be upgrading many customers from 9.6 to 10.2 along with our product version upgrade. This will require running 5 upgrade packages and our product, due to the number of regular and DVE elements, can usually take 5 to 10 minutes to start back up so I would like to be able to run all the upgrade packages back to back before having the system start back up.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hi Jeff – while I cannot answer your question, I would say that probably this then will have to be carefully tested and validated, because this is not what we usually validate as a process at Skyline.  I’m not sure if that’s the case, but I can imagine that some updates upon start-up continue to perform certain version / update specific actions (e.g. change a data format, add a field, etc.), and probably this could cause some issues if you apply multiple updates without any full system boots in between.  Again, I’m not sure if this is a valid point nor whether or not it applies, but it’s kind of the first thing that crossed my mind when reading your question.

Thanks Ben. Sounds like our safest option is to continue as usual and expect a system restart after each upgrade.
