Is there a problem if I setup a failover DMA pair on different locations?

I have seen that failover DMAs are in the same network as the main DMA, but I wonder if there is a problem if the failover DMA is in a different network/location from the main one.

If it is possible, is there a minimum required specification? e.g. latency between the two servers should be no greater than xx ms.

At the time of writing, a pair of failover servers need to be in the same network (subnet).

However, in one of the upcoming releases, DataMiner will support failover for servers that are in a different subnet.

There are no requirements defined for latency, but less is of course better.

Thank you Ive!

Hi Sebastian,
As a reference, we manage to make a failover pair work over a satellite connection (Average latency around 700ms)

Adding a reference to our recommendations, including also network specs https://community.dataminer.services/dataminer-compute-requirements/

Note that following is recommended ‘As a rule, we recommend a throughput ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps and a latency ranging from < 50 ms to < 30 ms.'

Hi SLC, team.. Is the situation still true? that we need to have the equipment in same subnet? or do we have option to use DNS with multiple IP addresses?

If using DNS, then is it required to change anything on the SNMP trap sending devices to point the server?
