Install Dataminer without using the local Administrator account

Hello Skyline team,

I’m seeing conflicting information on the subject.
The ‘help’ documentation shows that the local Administrator account must be used.

https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Functionality/DataMiner_Agents/Installing_a_DMA/Installing_DM_using_the_DM_Installer.html

However, following post on Dojo mentions something else.
https://community.dataminer.services/question/can-dataminer-be-installed-under-domain-account/?hilite=administrator

Could you clarify what is correct? Maybe update the help information?

Regards

Hi Dominik,

The first answer on the Dojo post you linked is correct, so you can indeed install DataMiner when logged in as a non-Administrator user. The user will still require administrative privileges, but it doesn’t have to be the built-in Administrator.

I’ll update the help to reflect this.
