How to monitor services and processes in Microsoft Platform SNMP connector

Solved551 views19th September 2024Microsoft Platform SNMP Microsoft Windows Windows service monitoring

Can't seem to monitor a given server or process, it just disappears from the process or service table or shows up uninitialized. This is what I see when attempting to monitor a service

service-uninitialized.PNG

This is my alarm template:

For process the above alarm template gives no alarming at all whether the process is running or not.

Hi Oscar,
For some reason I cannot see the screenshots attached. Can you try adding again the screenshots?
In addition, please could you let us know the version of the Microsoft Platform SNMP connector deployed on your DMA?

Oscar Eves [DevOps Advocate] commented 24th July 2024

Hi Miguel,

Are you able to see them now?

Miguel Obregon [SLC] [DevOps Catalyst] commented 25th July 2024

Hi Oscar,
I still not able to see the screenshots.
Could you let us know the version of the Microsoft SNMP connector deployed in your DMA? We can try to reproduce the issue in our end.

Hi Oscar,

I believe I was able to reproduce the behavior that you describe. For testing I started/stopped a service running in a Windows Server instance. I noticed that when the service is stopped, the row disappears from the table. I would expect to see the service still available in the table with Status 'Stopped'.

We will create a task to fix this bug. Please could you send me an email with your Skyline contact in CC? (miguel.obregon@skyline.be)

Thanks
