Dear Community,
I'm reaching out since we are running into some difficulties in trying to get the Advantech EKI-1526N configured to a point in where it will successfully translate the serial over IP commands to full serial commands and vice versa.
We believe that the following Port Operation settings would allow the gateway to be functioning correctly but are unsure as we fail to initiate successful communication at this point.
If anyone with prior experience in dealing with a Advantech Serial GW setup in their DataMiner deployment could confirm this, we would be able to eliminate the port operation settings as root cause of the communication failure which would be a blessing!
After putting in the required amount of trial and error (and with the grace of Advantechs nice and helpfull techsupport team) we finally got confirmation on what the correct port settings for the serial gateway are for its usecase together with DataMiner:
Port Operation Settings:
Port Advanced Settings:
With that out of the way we managed to troubleshoot a fault in the cabling which resolved the final issue and got us to successfully establish communication with the serial interface of the end device.
There's nothing like the sweet smell of victory after a hard fought battle ;-).
Hi Jeroen,
Is there a way to connect a device to this serial gateway of which we are sure communication is already working through another gateway and where we are 100% sure about the settings?
That way the possibility of an incorrectly configured end-device can be excluded.
Hi Jeroen, that would of been the ideal approach indeed to minimize the amount of variables in this equation. In the mean time we did get success though. I’ll update the post with the settings which turned out to be successful.
