We are using a SED Decimator and would like to correlate the spectrum trace data, over time, to trended parameters from other elements for the same time period. While configuring the Spectrum Monitor, it seems like the functionality is there under alarming and trending, however, I have not been able to get a trend trace to populate. The ultimate goal is to have a dashboard or view where the user can select a timeframe and see the time correlated trended parameter and trace data on the same page.
Hi Steve,
That would currently not be possible. You can indeed leverage monitors to perform measurements, and the metrics / KPIs generated by those can be monitored and/or trended over time. But traces are not stored permanently. You can have a spectrum trace recording automatically upon detection of an alarm on a KPI (in which case you can replay that recording, that option is available in the right click menu of such an alarm). But currently you cannot 'trend' the entire trace continuously, and then go back to any point of time and see that trace.

Hi Steve,
Just adding, if you're only looking to trend a full trace, it should be possible through the Spectrum Display by creating a monitor and selecting the trace variable to be trended (rather than e.g. a marker value). This will result in offloading the full trace into the database. Note that this could result in a lot of data to be offloaded. Default timespan kept is 12 months.
All traces that are trended can be consulted and selected for comparison in the History tab, in the right-hand side pane. Holding the CTRL key allows you to select multiple traces and start comparing. Markers can still be set also to see the exact levels from a trended trace.

Thank you Leander, I had that working, I was just looking in the Trend pages rather than the Spectrum History.
PS: We do have some projects where we are currently bidding, that require such capability. So in that context the feasibility to further expand the current ad hoc (upon alarm or manually) recording capabilities to permanent recording has been done, and this would be possible. In that case DataMiner would maintain a continuous history of all spectrum traces, and offer replay capabilities at specific points in the past. We have recently also added quite some really nice new dashboard components for spectrum traces, so those would then also support that capability.
