Different Card Layouts Possible on Each Cube Side?

Hi - since our recent upgrade to v10.2, the operations team here have reported that it's no longer possible to have different card layouts on each of the Cube sides. For example, on the first side a proportional layout might be used, then on the second side, a workspace with a tab layout is activated. The problem reported is that the layout on the first side is now forced to a tab layout too. The team tell me this was not the case before the upgrade (each side kept its set layout). Unfortunately, I never tried this before so I can't confirm. Can anyone else comment on this?

Hi Mark,
At first sight, the setting where we store the layout preference has always been a shared setting for all Cube sides. What probably did change is that setting the value in recent versions, immediately applies it on all cube sides and before it was only applied after a reconnect or in new sessions.
(I compared 10.2 with 10.0 here in my reference setups to come to that conclusion)

Feel free to share why it is important for your users to have different layouts on the different Cube sides.

Hi Peter, thanks for replying – just to be clear to me, are you saying it is possible to have different layouts in earlier versions, but only for a long as that session remains open? This would tie up with what was reported.

As a tip, you can press CTR + L to quickly switch the layout with a couple of keystrokes.

Indeed, these short cuts are really worth learning about. Also CTR+Q to get a navigation menu to easily switch between cards or workspaces.

Hi Mark,
Yes, that is what I meant. Can you share the version you came from, then I can double check for you.

Starting from DataMiner Cube 10.4.12, the different Cube sides will have their own 'layout' value and as such, it will be possible to have Cube side1 in tab layout and Cube side2 in proportional. If you have Cube automatic updates and your client machines have internet access, this feature will come to you automatically shortly after the release of 10.4.12 which is scheduled for Nov 15th 2024.
