Can you give details on the difference between a DMA and a DMP in term of functionalities as view by an user / client (max logged clients at same time, tree and views structure, APP / modules available,...) ?
HI Serge,
A DataMiner Probe, DMP, is a "light" version of a DataMiner Agent node, it's a standalone unit (typically for polling of elements on a remote site), and it replicates its elements into the core DataMiner System (meaning the core Agent also needs to have the necessary capacity in this case). Note that you need to log in through a DMA to access your DataMiner System, as logging in on a DMP only provides you visibility on that DMP as it is an isolated stand-alone unit from that perspective.
A DMP has otherwise same features as DMA, but with some limitations:
- CANNOT BE INTEGRATED IN THE DMS CLUSTER
- Unlike DMAs, DMPs cannot be integrated into a DMS. Instead, they act as a standalone gateway/proxy in between devices and a DMS
- LIMITED CAPACITY LICENSES
- DMPs are available with a capacity of 5, 10, 25 or maximum 50 devices
- ONLY ONE USER AT A TIME
- Can only be accessed by one simultaneous user at a time given time. However, DMPs can cater for an unlimited number of user accounts
- ONLY ONE VIEW ON THE NAVIGATION TREE
- They don't provide a hierarchical view arrangement, and hence all devices are displayed in one single view, and one single graphical Visual Overview presentation (which can have multiple tab pages, arranging different devices or providing different perspectives on the systems managed by the DMP).
- LIMITED HISTORY
- DMPs have a historical storage capability for fault and performance data of up to maximum 7 days. Historical information from DMPs is typically forwarded towards a DMS platform where it remains available for longer time spans.
Thank you.
Thank you.
