Since a while I'm experiencing a long time to connect with Cube to some of my DataMiner Systems. The launcher seems to spend a long time on connecting / checking version on server / ... This must be related to my setup, because others in the same environment do not experience this.
Any suggestions on what to check?

A possible reason for this:
If your DMS is configured to only allow HTTPS, and the config in your Cube Start Window is still referring to HTTP, then the start of your cube session will indeed be delayed.
A possible fix is to recreate the start-window button to connect immediately to HTTPS.

Brilliant, that fixed it indeed. I had this configured with HTTP in the past, and in the meanwhile the underlying DataMiner System was indeed changed to HTTPS only. I removed that system from my Cube Launcher, and added it again. It automatically detected the HTTPS while doing that. And it works like a charm now, and launches instantly again. Thanks!
