Dashboards Query Filter – Set Free Form as Default

DataMiner Community,

When working with the Query Filter component in Dashboards, some parameters allow for the toggling between free form (image 1) and checklist (image 2).

Is it possible to set the free from as the default behavior instead of the checklist? If seems like this is a more desirable behavior in most situations for a newly created dashboard.

Thank you,

Hi Rene,

This is currently not possible but we could tweak this behavior in the future. We can do (a combination) of several things.:

  1. Change the default behavior for every filter to free form.
  2. Make it a setting so you can configure the default control for every filter.
  3. Remember the last selected control for the filter and store that in the local storage (so bound to the user, computer and browser).

Note that this is currently saved in the dashboard, so option 2 is currently applied (but not as a visible setting in the edit panel)

Alright thanks for that additional insight Gilles, so changing the type of control will currently be applied for all users. Note that changing the type of control is only allowed for users with ‘Edit’ rights.

Thanks for your reply, Sebastiaan & Gilles. We will propose to move forward with the provided workaround. Looking forward to the improvements mentioned above though!
