Hi Dojo,
Trying to gather some info for future projects & related compatibility: mainly interested in knowing if DaaS (as a managed service) has to bounded with a feature release by default or if the main releases are also an option when a new instance is started.
In any case, when spinning up a new DaaS DMA, is there an option for the admin to select a specific version?
E.g. If the admin prefers CU/main releases, is this an option or is the DaaS linked by default to one of the latest feature releases?
Thanks
Good question! It is possible to choose if you want to follow the main or feature release track with DaaS, but today this requires a manual intervention of our support team to go to the main release track.
DaaS will by default run on the feature release track, like it is today. This allows you to play around with the latest and greatest version. But the DaaS team is now working on making it possible to immediately choose a main release track while starting a new DaaS. So, today it is not possible yet without a support request, but next year it should become available in the UI while starting a DaaS.
When running DaaS in production, I would even recommend running on the main release. You do still need to follow the CUs, but note that in the 10.6 main release, we want to start to look at running different CU versions in one cluster. If you have that combined with swarming, you can start to look at seamless upgrades: With swarming you free up one node, then you can upgrade it, then you use swarming to free up the next node, and so on. Until your full cluster is upgraded. If that isn't exciting!

Thanks for the prompt feedback, Bert – That's great news!
Marking as solved.
