Hi all,
Our squad is looking into making our DMA's cloud connected but we had some questions about it :
- Once our DMA is cloud connected can we still switch to configs of older versions which don't support cloud connection.
- Once our DMA is cloud connected can we do a downgrade to an older verion which don't support cloud connection. If so, if we updrade again will the could connection be re-established or will there be need for a manual action?
Thanks in advance!

- If you want to switch between different versions by using configs, you can certainly keep your cloud connection going. Note that depending on the DataMiner version that you are running you might need to execute a few extra steps to get the Cloud Connection and Live Sharing to work properly. If you want the full explanation, I suggest you have a look at the official help page that explains how you can connect your DataMiner System to the cloud. Since the DataMiner Extension Modules are not linked to the DataMiner software, the Cloud Connection should work even on the older version. The only thing you might need to do is restart the CoreGateway process so it can reload the correct version of the DLL’s it needs depending on the active DataMiner version. Note that Live Sharing is only supported in version 10.1.1 and later, also up until version 10.1.11 this feature was under soft launch. You can find more info on the help page linked above.
- In general you will not need to execute a manual action when returning to a newer DataMiner version that supports the Cloud Connection. There might be exceptions regarding some of the version between 10.1.1 and 10.1.9 as explained in the help page. Only manual action that is required will be to restart the CoreGateway process manually as mentioned above. Note that the cloud connection should stay available for older versions (up until 9.6.0) but you will not have a UI to manage your connection.
