If a DataMiner cluster contains a mixture of server pairs running different versions of Cassandra (3.7 and 3.11), will the Cassandra cluster migration tool still work for migrating to a Linux + Cassandra v4.x/OpenSearch environment, or does the Dataminer cluster need to be running the same Cassandra version on all pairs?
Hi Paul,
Since each pair is separate, I do believe that the wizard will not take the difference between the Cassandra versions into account.
Therefore, I believe you should be able to start the migration with that setup.
Having said that, there's a far bigger chance to run into performance issues on the 3.7 Cassandra as the 3.11 is already much improved.
From my perspective, it is better to have all source Cassandra db's on 3.11.
You can give it a try with Cassandra 3.7, but as mentioned, the migration is more likely to fail on those nodes due to the source Cassandra not keeping up.
