When reading the documentation, it is stated that all DMA’s require internet access. Can we have some more details on what is meant by this? We would like to understand if it is also possible to work with a DMZ (similar to the DMZ option we have for the cloud connection).
Hi Michiel,
Today the STaaS traffic is always going direct from each DMA to STaaS. This is also visualized in the below schematical overview. This is the recommended way because then each DMA is independent of the Cloud Gateway to access the database. We do although plan to add an option to redirect the STaaS traffic via the Cloud Gateway. And since you can install this Cloud Gateway in a DMZ, STaaS will then also support a DMZ setup. But today this is not yet supported. You can get in touch with the cloud team or me to discuss the priority of this new feature on our roadmap

Hi Dave, good question. We still go direct and the plans to go via the cloud gateway currently have a low priority. We recommend avoiding these intermediate hops, and since this is only outgoing queries (inserts or selects) originating from the DMAs, there has not really been any request for this DMZ hop for STaaS so far…
Hi Bert – just checking, as your post was from Jan 2024. It is still the case that StaaS connections can not use a DMZ Cloud Gateway and have to go direct (via a proxy) from the DMA?
