Backup only on the main, not the failover?

Solved1.61K views3rd December 2021backup Failover restore

It seems that there is no backup done on the failover, when started on the main DMA. What if the main then is down? The backup would be lost. Or does this have to be configured somewhere?

Regards

Hi Dominik,

A backup taken from the main DMA is eligible for the backup DMA as well, that's why there's no backup file in the backup DMA.

As a best practice, I would recommend you to store the backup files in a shared folder in your network, instead of the DMA itself. As you said, if the server is down, you can't get the backup file.

This DataMiner Help page will be useful for you, as it specifies how to configure backups. Please note on step 3, as it explains how the network path option works.
