What is the best practice for setting up the indexing engine location when a cluster of DataMiner Agents is connected to an external multi-node OpenSearch cluster?
Will DataMiner remotely perform the OpenSearch backup or it still needs to be managed on the OpenSearch side?
For what type of content backups (full, full with database, configuration, etc.) the indexing engine location is being actively used as it seems to be a mandatory field in any case?
Dear Laszlo,
DataMiner will not automatically take backups van external databases like OpenSearch (same for CassandraCluster or Elastic).
In our help pages we documented how you can configure the backup for each system.
For OpenSearch you can find this here: https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Functionality/Databases/Indexing_database/OpenSearch_Database/Configuring_OpenSearch_Backups.html
For the "Indexing Engine Location" you can leave this open, it's not a mandatory field.
Hi Laszlo,
The field is mandatory for when using a local Elastic setup.
I’ll create a task for our teams to update the UI on this.
Edit:
The task was created and assigned to the correct team. https://collaboration.dataminer.services/squads/94/board/task/218221
Kind regards,
Thank you Thibault, looking forward to the new release.
HI,
are there updates?
field is still mandatory even if no local indexer is used
Hi Thibault,
Thanks for the feedback.
If DataMiner is not taking backups of OpenSearch, then what is the purpose of the Indexing Engine Location field?
Actually, this field seems to be mandatory as the tooltip says it cannot be left empty.
