Can Dataminer software support followings?
1- Is there any tool in Dataminer for taking the System Images? meaning, Can we get/Backup “System Images” (like VM Backup) and can restore same to 3rd party platforms under Dataminer monitoring?
2- If we can do point 1, can it be restored to different motherboards (meaning Dell's System Image to HP System's Image)?
3- Can Dataminer do the database(s) Backup?
4- Does DataMiner has the feature to backup the configuration of network Switches and then restore in case of any switch failure?
Hi Pramod,
the DataMiner IDP app allows users to take or restore configuration backups from any device. Additionally, it also has the mechanism to update software images. The latter typically concerns the software or firmware running on the devices.
I'd argue that the System Images for a VM can equally well be approached as configuration backups. As such, you can also restore them with DataMiner IDP.
Given a connector for a database, you could equally well use the same backup & restore mechanism of IDP to handle item 3.
Thank you very much Ben and Jan-Klass, So, in summary, if there are required connectors of VM & database, dataminer can trigger the backup / restore functions through the respective APIs.
On top of that, if we add IDP, this can offer more structured way of configuration management, even comparison of configurations etc. (as mentioned in IDP brochure via link shared by you) across several different connectors in the given ecosystem.
Exactly. IDP would be a good fit for the use case of taking VM images / restoring those. And this can be equally applies to other products such as like a database or network switch. It is a matter of getting the proper connectors in place. On the 2nd point of the question though, that seems to be unrelated to DataMiner, i.e. either those are compatible or they are not.
