Automated migration of visio views to new Dashboard (DatMinerX)

The current DMS that I support has over hundred views and each has a Visio view created. Currently, we want to transfer all visio views to new dashboards in DataMiner X.

Is there a way to make automate migration of visio views to new Dashboards?

We know that in visio it is possible to make a Shape Report and list all fields and their values in a csv file. I wonder if this can help with migration.

Do you know in what form the new dashboard is saved, is it a text file?

Hi Piotr,

Just to clarify, you have over one hundred Views and for each of those Views you would like to create a separate dashboard?

Or would it be also a solution to have one dashboard, with a View feed, which can allow you to switch from one View to another.

The graphics below illustrate that (one dashboard with a View feed at the top, which is a drop down where I can select a View, and it shows me for the selected View the alarm status with the ring on the left, and the Visual Overview graphic associated with that View on the right).

In the example I first selected the View ‘Operations’ from the View feed, and then ‘London’.

I will talk to the customer but it is rather about (similar) individual views, which are provided separately to external customers

Hi Piotr,

If the views are indeed identical to each other, but gathering the data from different services or views, it would be an option to create a dashboard for every customer (there are only a couple if I understood correctly).
A dashboard would then contain a feed to select a specific service/view and would present the data that is linked to the selection in the feed.
For this to work efficiently, the data needs to be consistent in the background off coarse.

Hi

I’ll add a few words.

There are about 30 main Visio-views and over hundred of “sub-views”. These lower-level views represents broadcast service on each site.

They differs between each other in a few areas:

  1. Set of measured parameters
  2. Type of redundancy

There are about 15 different templates that cover every configuration.

For each Visio-view we already created services with common set of parameter names.

As I understand copy/paste functionality of dashboard is available and the only need is to set up a feed – it means pickup a service from list and that’s it, right ?
