We are implementing a DataMiner system without failover at the moment and were curious if there is any issue with using VEEAM (https://www.veeam.com/vmware-esx-backup.html) application to make image backups of the different servers?
Is anyone using VEEAM today?
Hi Steve,
I'm aware of at least one company that uses VEEAM to take backups of the DataMiner nodes. I have no further details about their experience, or specific recommendations related to that.
Ben
One thing keep in mind: in case you're dealing with a big cluster and VEEAM - or any other tool for that matter - transfers the backup files to an external network location, make sure to spread out the transfers over time.
We've had an issue at a customer where simultaneous backup transfers on a big cluster were completely saturating a network switch interface, which in turn impacted DataMiner polling.
Thanks Ruben, good to know.
