I'm trying to add historic data to a protocol. I've set trending to true on the parameter as well as added monitoring. I've created a trending template, enabled both real-time and average, and added a alarm template.
I can see trending data when drilling down on the parameter and viewing the trending graph. However the graph only outputs the data since the second I opened the view. Monitoring does seem to work since I can see the green bottom line further back.
How do I view a graph of all the trending data?
I’m using 10.2.8.0-12037.
Hi Robin,
We found an issue in 10.2.8.0 that is similar to the one that you described. Trend data was not written to the database. This has been detected on systems where there are multiple NIC cards (I am not sure if this is your case).
This issue is already solved in 10.2.9. Is it possible to upgrade your DMA to this version and let us know if the issue still occurs? The fix is described in the release notes
The first moment you enable trending, in first instance the trend graph will use data from the client to display the trend graph.
In the background the trend data is offloaded to the database.
After running the trending for a few hours and you restart the element, you should see the trend data being retrieved from the database.
DataMiner also only will be able to display the trend data from the moment the trend template has been set active. It will not request historic data from the device or 3rd party system.
How long was the trend template active before you checked the trending?
After two hours have passed, do you still have the same behavior?
After 3 hours the behavior is the same. I don’t know if it’s related but when clicking the Histogram tab on a Parameter it shows “No data”.
Hi Robin,
This is not normal indeed. Do you have trending on any of the elements on that DMA?
I believe it’s best to raise this with our Techsupport.
Hi Robin, please could you let us know which DMA version are you running? We found an issue that seems to the one that you described,
