Hi everyone,
I've noticed that when I run the Update Center, I cannot always get all the releases announced in the catalog for the purchased protocols. I'm wondering if there are any options on the customer side to keep the update center always aligned with the catalog: is this a possibility (perhaps for specific protocols) or is it not recommended?
The screenshot below is from a system still running v9.6, however there are a few protocols for which we don't seem to get any update message for new versions, e.g. driver 4250 shown below.
Thanks in advance
Hello,
The cube update center checks for ordered protocols and protocol updates.
To determine the protocol updates, the latest version of that protocol on the DataMiner is used to verify on DCP whether there is a new version available. For this, the major number needs to match. When on this DataMiner protocol version 1.1.4.8 is installed, only updates for range 1.x.x.x would be presented.
The protocol version's major digit is used for separating different implementations (possibly from different customers) and doesn't necessarily mark an improvement.
Kind regards,
Karl
P.S. We will look into updating the DataMiner help on this topic.
Thanks for clarifying, Karl - Would there be any feature in future to notify admins of the presence of a newer range?
E.g. 1.x.x.x vs 2.x.x.x - this might be a feed in the catalog to which customers can subscribe for purchased drivers, not necessarily via update centre: I see the benefit of keeping major releases separated as you say.
Best
