Get ready for richer notes and better structured input in your dashboards and apps

With DataMiner Feature Release version 10.6.6 just around the corner, it is high time to introduce a new component for Dashboards and Low-Code Apps: the rich text input component.

While the existing text input component is widely used and highly versatile, when you need to add more structure to your input, the options are limited. That is exactly why the rich text input component was created.

This new component acts as a flexible text editor that makes it easy to add structured instructions, detailed notes, or contextual information to your dashboards and apps.

Need to highlight the most important information at a glance? Want users to leave clear, readable comments tied to a specific item? The rich text input component makes that possible.

The editor toolbar includes many familiar formatting options, so users can get started immediately without needing much explanation. You can add headings, lists, and code blocks, or apply formatting like bold and italic text — all from an intuitive interface designed to feel familiar from the start.

In the example below, users can browse a collection of movies and view key metadata such as the plot summary, director, and runtime. With the rich text input component, they can also add structured reviews for each movie. Open the notes panel and leave your thoughts, organizing them with formatting.

Curious to try it yourself, but not planning a full system upgrade yet because of downtime concerns? DataMiner web upgrades offer an easy alternative.

A web upgrade package only contains the web API and the web apps, leaving the core processes untouched. That means you can unlock the latest web app capabilities with zero downtime. While the DataMiner web server briefly restarts during the installation, the rest of your system keeps running as usual.

The rich text input component will become available with DataMiner Feature Release 10.6.6. Give it a try and start adding more structure and context to your dashboards and low-code apps.
