Correlation rule – group alarms by alarm

I have a correlation rule (S&M DM05 HDD status) which filters on some elements.
Then there’s an alarm grouping by alarm “Group these alarms by alarm”.

What does that do?
Why would you need to be able to group by alarm?

The “group by alarm” option indeed has little use.
