Enable Root Cause Alarms On Service View

Hi, how do we enable the highest alarming on the service root cause without loading an alarm matrix?

Update: Screenshot AttachedServiceRCA.JPG

Note that the Root Cause Alarm is Green but the service has Warning Alarms. I want to understand how we can automatically reflect the highest alarm in the RCA without an alarm matrix

Hi Vig, can you please elaborate and if possible show some screenshot? It is not clear what you are asking. Regards.

Vig Nair commented 19th August 2024

Hi Miguel, I updated the question with the screenshot

Hi Vig,
Could you try adding the screenshot again? Something must have gone wrong, because the current link results in a 404 page when clicked.

Hi Vig, the permanent services have the ‘Skyline Enhanced Service’ protocol applied to it. What this means is that it has some specific logic coded into it that normal services do not have (i.e.: those that do not have the protocol applied to it). The enhanced service protocol can evaluate all alarms impacting the service and match this against user defined rules to determine what the root cause of the problem could be. Through the buttons at the bottom of your screenshot, rules can be added (or a csv import). If no rules are defined to determine what the root cause is, the system will not present a root cause.

Below is an upload of the same image that Vig was trying to upload:

Our IT support resolved the bug that caused images to be uploaded incorrectly, so uploading the image again should now work. Could you try editing your question or answer (via the cogwheel button in the lower left corner) to upload the image again?

I’ll re phrase my question – how do I get SRM to load the correct alarm matrix when a service is created?

Tiago Rosa [SLC] [DevOps Advocate] commented 18th September 2024

Hi Vig, considering the bug with uploading screenshots has now been fixed, could you please try to upload your screenshots again, to help us understand the problem you’re facing? Thank you for your patience!
