I have 2 newly installed DMAs that I need to join to a DMS that uses a clustered database. These 2 DMAs are to be configured as FO pair. I need to ask the proper sequence to accomplish the task, below is what I have in mind.
1)Configure the database to use the cluster (Should I use the cube to configure the database settings or run the migration tool?)
2)Configure the FO.
3)Upgrade the DMA to the same version as the DMS
4)Add the FO DMA to the DMS
Hi Dennis,
If you plan to add a new failover pair (1+1) to your DMS, it is advisable to first upgrade the new agents to the same DataMiner software version as the rest of the DMS. Once all prerequisites are met, add the primary DMA as a regular DataMiner agent, and then configure and enable the Failover feature.
For the best possible experience, please refer to our latest documentation and guidelines on our Docs platform for enabling the Failover feature in DataMiner: Failover
There you will find:
- Information on the prerequisites and how to prepare the two agents for the failover enable.
- Information on how to configure the failover, guided step-by-step.
- Information on how to fine-tune your configuration by making use of the advanced failover options.
- ...and much more!
The 'migration' of the local Cassandra databases of the new failover pair to the Cassandra Cluster should technically be the last step. The instructions will vary depending on whether an indexing database is already configured for your DMS.
