Can STaaS be used for a Failover system?

We would like to start using STaaS for an existing failover system (5 + 5). The current system uses local Cassandra with EMCO (2 Elastic clusters) as DB architecture. The RTT between the FO servers (different geolocation) is roughly 150ms. I did not find in our documentation that failovers are not supported, but would like to double-check that FO setups are supported with STaaS. Is there already anyone who has a FO setup connected to STaaS?

Hi Michiel,

This is most definitely supported, and I would even say highly recommended because it will simplify this setup so much.

STaaS can basically be seen as a drop-in replacement for Cassandra cluster and Elastic/OpenSearch cluster. And these clustered central databases are of course also supported with failover. The current setup is apparently running local Cassandra, but that’s no problem. You can just forget about all the Cassandra and Elastic/OpenSearch nodes, and just focus on the deployments of the DataMiner nodes in failover, and those nodes will always have their necessary storage available in STaaS.

Bert
