Problem with Cassandra Cluster Migration

Hi,

I’m building a Dataminer test system, consisting of 6 DMA’s, each a failover pair, using the default install with local Cassandra. DMAs built with 10.3.12. There are no elements deployed, this is a completely fresh DMS. The goal has always been to use Cassandra and Opensearch Clusters for this system. Both the clusters are ready for action.

When I run SLCCMigration, after I acknowledge the warning about failover clusters detected, I just get an empty window, showing a single line of text

SLDataGateway.Tools.CassandraCluster.Migration.UI.ViewModels.MainViewModel

When I’d tried this before on a single host, I got a window with an intialise button.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris, I’m not sure whether that could be a UI bug, could you provide us with the errors from the logging files? Also, just to be sure, are you running the migration tool with a working DataMiner (online)?

Hi Chris,

Could you check following files in “Skyline DataMiner\Logging”:
– SLDataGateway_CC_Migration.txt
– SLCassandraMigration.txt
I can’t remember the exact error message but if something similar to “could not initialize” would be present in there a restart will fix it.

I unfortunately don’t know if this can be fixed without restarting.

Kind regards,
Xander

Brilliant!
I’ll check those two files.
The DMS has no elements yet, so restarting is not a problem, need to reboot to install windows updates anyway!
Thanks

in SLCssandraMigration, I have…

2023-12-04 15:01:51.443|29|PollStorageTypes. System.Exception: No connection set.
at SLCassandraClassLibrary.DBGateway.DBGateway.GetInfoOfStorageTypes()
at SLCassandraClassLibrary.DBGateway.ManagementController.PollStorageTypes(Object sender, ElapsedEventArgs args)

Can you check if a restart solves this? This bug will be fixed in the next release but a restart can also fix this.

Chris Glover [DevOps Advocate] commented 4th December 2023

I rebooted the server, and got the same error

Xander Warszawski [SLC] [DevOps Advocate] commented 5th December 2023

The error appearing in these logs isn’t that uncommon. The UI could however work after a restart, can you check that again?
