Revolutionize your Catalog management with Catalog Uploader 3.0.1

Skyline Communications is excited to unveil Catalog Uploader 3.0.1—a game-changer for Catalog management that’s built to streamline processes, expand Catalog support, and automate workflows with ease. This release isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a new standard for managing, updating, and customizing your Catalog entries with accuracy and flexibility.

Why choose Catalog Uploader 3.0.1?

Here’s why this release will revolutionize your Catalog workflows:

Key improvement: new identifier requirement

To simplify Catalog management and prevent duplicates, Catalog GUIDs (rather than SourceCode URIs) are now mandatory for all items. These unique identifiers improve traceability and standardization. Catalog GUIDs can be auto-generated or pre-configured.

Thanks to optimized workflow automation, the GitHub workflows ensure each Catalog entry is correctly identified and updated with its unique Catalog GUID, boosting consistency and efficiency. If no Catalog GUID is provided, a new record is automatically created.

Streamlined transition tools

Creating a catalog.yml file is now completely optional as CI/CD can automatically generate this file for you.

Built-in workflows automate Catalog GUID management, preventing duplicates and ensuring consistency across CD/CD deployments. This is achieved by storing an auto-generated-catalog.yml file within your repository.

For repositories that are part of the SkylineCommunications organization on GitHub, we have pre-populated these workflows with the Catalog GUIDs of existing items. However, for external organizations, this bulk update has not been applied. Before using the new tool, ensure you provide the Catalog GUID of already existing items through a catalog.yml file in the repository.

Expanded support for all Catalog item types

Whether it’s protocols, GQI queries, or Automation scripts, you can now upload and manage a wide range of Catalog items in one centralized location.

Enhanced metadata and visuals

Add detailed metadata using catalog.yml or manifest.yml files, and enrich your Catalog with a README.md file and an images folder for informative and visually appealing entries.

Catalog Uploader 3.0.1 contains intelligent features that makes it easier than ever to create well-documented, visually enhanced Catalog entries with minimal manual setup, so that each item in your Catalog is both accessible and informative:

  • Automatic file detection: When you upload an item, the Catalog Uploader will automatically look for a README.md file and an images folder in the same directory or in the parent folder of the .dmapp file. This saves time and ensures that each Catalog entry is accompanied by useful documentation and visuals.
  • Direct overrides: If you prefer to specify a particular README.md file or images folder, you can do so with input arguments. This flexibility provides control when your Catalog assets are organized in unique structures, while the automatic detection feature covers straightforward setups.

Efficient updates without new versions

From now on, you can refine details, add visuals, or adjust descriptions without re-uploading artifact versions. Catalog Uploader 3.0.1 allows you to update Catalog UI metadata only. Save time and effort while keeping your Catalog information current!
