Previously in 9.6 version of the DataMiner, it was possible to display text in a Visio shape like "Element *". In version 10.1.x, if there are any additional characters typed into a shape, apart from just the *, then the text gets displayed and the * gets ignored.
Is this an expected change in DataMiner 10.1.x?
FYI, the issue is fixed and I’ve updated the answer below.
This is indeed an issue and will be resolved soon™. I will update this answer once that is done.
EDIT: The issue is fixed in feature release 10.1.9 and main release 10.1.0(CU6)
As some additional information; Wild-card text will actually show any additional text (as expected) within a single static Visio shape. The missing text issue, with additional static text, occurs in the scenario when a self-populating Dataminer display is derived from a Visio shape that is contained within an larger overall visio area – for example a Dataminer visual display derived from a visio shape containing wild-card text (example ‘Source-*’) designed to display all the element names that exist under a given view > then the shape containing the Source name getting repeated multiple times on the Dataminer Visual display according to the number of elements in the view. Using Dataminer Version 10.1, the ‘Child’ shape will get displayed multiple times but we have experienced scenarios there the all the shapes will be blank without showing the expected wild-card text if there is any additional static text.
