text display when setting an octetstring parameter

In my protocol when I set from dataminer an updated value for my S2x Demod Tag Raw parameter 4002/4102 it correct sets with snmp on the device, but it displays as ASCII in the table until the next polling interval, at which point the text is read back from the device with SNMP and the text then displays correctly like rows 4.3 and 1.5 “test” “tag” etc instead of the 54.45.53.54…… format.

I’ve tried many different variations for this parameter but haven’t been able to figure out what I am missing for the text to not display as Hex in the period after the set before the next polling interval.

any ideas?

Hi Sam,

I believe for this case the best approach is to create an extra custom column that can be used to display the converted value (and to set new values). The current SNMP column (that should be hidden) can be used to perform the actual SNMP set to the device.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Miguel,

I already have a custom column S2X Demod Tag, whilst the original SNMP colimn S2X Demod Tag Raw is the one shown above in the first post.

I was buffering the Raw SNMP value to my custom column.
Any tips on an approach on how to use the custom column to do the SNMP Set instead?

Is it as simple as changing the name/description of parameter 4102 to match my custom column instead?
