I would like to run DataMiner on my Microsoft Azure’s private cloud. What storage services in azure are supported?

DataMiner requires a Cassandra cluster and an Elastic cluster for data storage.  The following two options would therefore be available in Azure:

  • You set up your private compute, and deploy DataMiner along with Cassandra and Elastic the same way you would set it up on-prem. Installing a DataMiner Agent | DataMiner Docs
  • Alternatively, in Azure you could opt for Cassandra Managed Instances (Setting up an Azure Managed Instance for Apache Cassandra | DataMiner Docs)

Alternatively, soon we will launch the DataMiner Storage as a Service (STaaS) cloud service, which replaces the need for Cassandra and Elastic.  DataMiner STaaS will be a care-free service, just connect your DataMiner instance to the DataMiner Cloud Platform and activate the service.  In that case you would only require some compute for DataMiner itself in Azure.  This cloud service is expected to become available later this year (DataMiner STaaS: a game-changer for your storage needs – DataMiner Dojo).  It is amongst some other technologies mainly based on Azure Cosmos DB.
