SRM – Can multiple versions of the same Virtual Function Protocol run next to each other

Note that this feature is currently still in soft launch and subject to change.

I have a Virtual Function Protocol with multiple versions in my DataMiner System. I'm wondering how far different versions can run next to each other?

As example, I have already a few resources running version 1.0.0.1 of that Virtual Function Protocol. I need to extend the function to support other resources and therefore those are using version 1.0.0.2. How far do I need to update my first resources to 1.0.0.2?

Hi Jens

Its entirely possible to continue to use version 1.0.0.1 on the existing resources, and start using version 1.0.0.2 on any new resources. The existing resources will continue to work and can be upgraded a later time. The older version of the virtual function definition can also not be deleted from the system as long as it is in use by any resource.
