We would like to know if it would be safe to install the SQL security patch of SQL2016 CU15, a similar question was asked previously about CU15, but this question is in regards to the security patch that was released on Jan 12th, 2021.

The system already running SQL Server 2016 SP2 CU2.

We ran some manual test and also our automatic tests with this new KB from Microsoft.
No issues were found with this KB, so it's safe to install this patch.
Note:
It's best to stop the DMA before installing an update on the MSSQL server.
