I am using “Element Connections” to copy parameters from a polled equipment to a virtual equipment. This is working fine.
I have recently changed the parameter id’s for a couple of parameters on that virtual element and although the new ones are working I don’t know how to remove the old id’s.
They currently show as "Unknown_202" & "Unknown_203" on the element connections display.
Hi Pieter,
Thanks for your advice.
I know it's not a good idea to change parameter IDs but I made a mistake when I initially entered parameter id's which meant that they didn't conform to the numbering scheme I had chosen for the element.
I have temporarily added back two parameters with the old id's (202&203)
These now appear OK on the element connection screen and I can change the parameter that they are linked to. (None in the screenshot below)
However, I now want to delete the links but when I right click on the line there is a greyed out "delete" button which doesn't seem to do anything. And clicking the left arrow doesn't seem to do anything either.
Please can you tell me how to delete these links.
Hi Pieter,
Please can you explain in more detail what I need to do.
Do I change something on the element connections page or do I change something on the (virtual) parameter that I want to remove (the ones that I added by mistake on the protocol for my element).
Thanks
Mark
Sure Mark, no problem, I’ll try to explain in more detail.
The changes I’m referring to are all to be done in the ‘Element Connections’ app in DataMiner Cube (probably where your screenshot originates from). On the first tab page ‘configure’ you have the list with all the configured connections. You’ll notice two levels of grouping in the list. Level 1 is on protocol and that should be expanded by default. Level 2 is on element and that is probably collapsed. So the first thing to do is to expand the elements for which you want to delete the element connections. Then you’ll see ‘parameter’ lines in your list with dropdown boxes in certain columns. In order to remove the connections for a certain parameter, select ” in all the dropdown boxes in that line. If you do that for all the parameters you want to remove, apply everything via the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the list. And that’s actually all you need to do.
I hope that helps, if not, don’t hesitate to let us know. Or if you want to sync with a Teams quick call, we can set that up as well.
Hi Pieter, Can I email you direct? Thanks, Mark
sure, I’ll reach out to you so you have my contact details
Hi Mark,
The Delete button is only linked to removing duplicate lines (lines that have been created via the ‘Duplicate’ action in the context menu). You cannot remove the lines that were originally in the list via the delete.
In order to cleanup your element connections, the only thing you need to do is configuring the ones you want to remove with ” and then save it.
Please let me know if that indeed worked for you or not.
