Hi Dojo, as per title, spin-off question from another discussion:
can the Offload DB be configured directly in AWS/GCP/Azure?
In other words, has any Cloud Offering (AWS/GCP/Azure) been tested to match the DB requirements that the DataMiner solution has typically supported for on-premise offload (i.e. SQL/MySQL/Oracle)?
Interested into the classic MySQL/SQL/Oracle DB types that are supported for central offload in a cluster:
I know there can be some caveats when it comes to the specific implementation done by a given cloud provider - so I was wondering if there can be any specific requirements or tests to be done for the specific cloud solution?
This drawing comes from the "offload" section in the help files: just added the "cloud" in purple
PS: When the local DB is Cassandra based, is there any "NoSQL to NoSQL" option currently in roadmap? Or will the DMS always still require the dll to put together the data.csv for the offload?
Hi Alberto, a while ago I performed some tests on offloading data in light of another question that was posted on Dojo. And just out of curiosity I also tested the offload to an "Amazon RDS for MySQL" database. This seemed to work fine. Note that I didn't do any extensive checks. I verified that all data was offloaded and that it looked ok at first sight, which it did.
Thanks for sharing, Wouter
Marking this as solved – traced also this piece of info from Jens (in a similar thread), where a slight tweak for MySQL 8 is identified:
