Hi Simon,

You could trigger an automation script to start when the Visual Overview gets opened and report the result back to the Visual Overview.

Keep in mind that the script only will run when opening the map.

Basically you need:

// For a View:
var request = new GetNotesMessage() { ObjectID = "123", ObjectType = NotesObjectType.View };
// For an Element:
var request = new GetNotesMessage() { ObjectID = "123456/123", ObjectType = NotesObjectType.Element };
// For a Service:
var request = new GetNotesMessage() { ObjectID = "123456/123", ObjectType = NotesObjectType.Service };
var rawResponse = engine.SendSLNetSingleResponseMessage(request);
var response = rawResponse as GetNotesResponse;

// To display the count of non expired notes for your object:
engine.AddScriptOutput(UIVariables.VisualOverview.CreateKey("NoteCount"),Convert.ToString(response.Notes.Count(note => note != null && !note.IsExpired),CultureInfo.InvariantCulture));
