Low-Code Apps: make dropdown empty by default

Hi, I’m working on a low-code app where I have a drop-down to filter a grid component. When a user opens the app, I want the drop-down to be empty so that they see the entire list of options in the grid component. However, I can’t get this behavior to work. I’ve checked nothing under ‘initial selection’ in the component settings of the drop-down, but whenever I open the app, the ‘Production’ option is always already selected.

Could this be a bug, or am I missing something? I’m on server version 10.3.9.0-13223 and Web version 10.3.9 (CU0)

Hi Reinout,

The current design intentionally ensures that these controls are not left empty. This decision was initially made to avoid placing the burden on users of having to make multiple selections just to populate an empty dashboard. Our intention was to pre-fill the dropdown with a value, giving users the freedom to modify it as needed.

Since the original implementation, we’ve made significant progress and are now focused on accommodating a wider range of use cases. With this in mind, it’s becoming more logical to allow for empty dropdowns when users first open a dashboard, particularly when the user has configured the control in this manner. I’ve included a task in our backlog to address this.
