Hi All
We want to clone a VMware virtual machine running DataMiner for backup purposes, so we can then migrate the VMware clone to a Hyper-V virtual machine. Do we need to stop the DataMiner process to perform such a clone on the VMware machine? Can we perform such a hot clone of the DataMiner data?
We do not want to be deprived of DMA's production service for any longer.
We have Cassandra and OpenSearch nodes on separate virtual machines in the cluster. So, there shouldn't be any data inconsistencies when cloning a VMware virtual machine and then migrating that clone to a Hyper-V machine.
Big thanks for answer.

Hi Jarek,
You should be able to take a hot snapshot of the VMware virtual machine without stopping or interrupting the running processes, including the DataMiner processes.
If I understood correctly, the final goal is to migrate a DMA server (likely part of a DMS and currently running on VMware) to Hyper-V. In that case, and if feasible, we would recommend performing the migration while all DMAs in the cluster are stopped. This helps prevent any complications during the switch to the cloned system.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to support@dataminer.services with more specific details about what you are trying to accomplish.
Cheers,
Paulo
