Hi all,

What is the best way to trigger a critical alarm based on a service property that is updated each time the service is reapplied?

Hi Amber,

You will need to make your service an Enhanced Service, on which you can apply alarm templates (as you would do for elements). The Skyline Service Definition Basic should be a good starting point for your use case.

Once you configure the service as an enhanced service, in the alarm template you need to select "All parameters (protocol + general)" to see the "Property" general parameter for alarm configuration.

Hi Sebastiaan, I'm afraid you won't see the service properties in that table… Instead, this table will show element properties of the 'element' managing the enhanced service. The actual service properties won't be available in there.
So, it might be difficult to tackle the original question…

Hi Bert, thanks for sharing.
I’m thinking a custom implementation for enhanced services could work – one that retrieves the properties of its assigned service. Those properties could then be stored in a new, separate properties table (not the default one), and the alarm template could be updated to detect changes from that table.
It is definitely not straight forward, so let's see if the community has another approach.
