Is it possible to access StaaS via ExpressRoutes

Hi,

One of our discussion points on whether to use STaaS or not is connection reliability and throughput capacity, so bought up the question of is it possible to use an ExpressRoutes?

I'd guess the access token from dataminer.services will always need to be via the internet on port 443, but could the Cosmos DB connections be via ExpressRoutes if it's using Azures standard connectivity.

Hi Philip,

I believe this is just a matter of making sure the correct routes are added to your ExpressRoute config. If your DMA runs on STaaS, it will make a connection to an HTTPS endpoint hosted in Azure. The exact endpoint depends on the chosen location where your data needs to be stored. If you make sure this endpoint is going over your ExpressRoute, you should be able to benefit from the advantages of ExpressRoute for your STaaS connections.

If we need more details on this, we can also involve Microsoft in this discussion, but in short, you can indeed use ExpressRoute for your STaaS connections.

Bert
