Not sure if it is the best way but we developed a small script that can be scheduled with the standard DataMiner Scheduler.  That script initiates the IDP configuration backup script for all elements of a certain CI Type in a certain View.  That avoids having to schedule a task per element to start the IDP configuration backup for that device.
