How does a Standalone DMA use NATS?

Would a stand-alone DMA,  not clustered with any other agent, use NATS?

If NATS is not running on that agent currently using 10.1, would it be able to upgrade further in this state?

Hi,

Yes, a standalone DMA could be using NATS. For example a DataMiner Extension Module (DxM) could be publishing/consuming messages on the NATS messagebroker. If there is no NATS then the upgrade will show an error and will not continue.
